White House demands technically impossible zero-jailbreak certification before Fable 5 relaunch
WIRED and the Washington Post published reporting June 17-19 filling in the sequence behind the Fable 5 global ban. The White House first asked Anthropic to revoke SK Telecom's Mythos access only. Anthropic complied. Amazon researchers then separately flagged Fable 5 vulnerabilities, and the administration issued the June 12 full global ban. PCAST co-chair David Sacks had already given Anthropic an ultimatum: fix the jailbreaks or voluntarily take the model offline. The White House now demands Anthropic eliminate every jailbreak before any relaunch, per WIRED. Cybersecurity researchers say that standard is not achievable for any current AI model. Anthropic's Seoul managing director Chris Ciauri said the company is "very confident" access returns "within days."
